Connect your bank (or upload a CSV)
Your bank activity is the raw material for almost every report. Connect once and the numbers keep themselves current.
Option A — live bank connection
- Open Account and tap Connect a bank.
- Pick your bank and sign in through Plaid — Kanjo never sees your bank password.
- Connect your business checking account and your business credit card. The checking account powers sales, payroll, rent and cash position; the card powers the Spending tab.
- New transactions flow in automatically from here on.
Option B — CSV upload
- If you'd rather not link the bank, download a transactions CSV from your bank's website.
- In Account, choose Upload a file and pick the CSV.
- Upload a fresh file every week or two to stay current.
Tip · You can start with CSV and link the bank later — Kanjo removes any duplicates when the live feed arrives, so nothing is counted twice.
Teach Kanjo your deposits
Two small keyword settings make your sales numbers accurate. Open Reports, tap the gear, and find:
- Card processor keywords — the name your card settlements arrive under (e.g. "square inc"). These deposits become your in-house card sales.
- Cash deposit keywords — how your cash deposits appear (e.g. "deposit id number"). These become your cash sales.
Tip · Not sure what a deposit is called? Open your bank statement and copy the descriptor exactly — that's the string Kanjo matches against.
A note on which accounts count
Kanjo treats depository accounts (checking) as cash — that's where sales, payroll, rent and owner draws are read from. Credit-card charges are spending, counted on the day charged; the monthly card bill payment is recognized and excluded so that spend is never double-counted.
