Scan receipts and invoices
The one habit that powers your COGS: when the delivery lands, scan the invoice. Twenty seconds at the back door.
Scan an invoice
- Open Receipts in the bottom navigation and tap Scan.
- Lay the invoice flat and take the photo — multi-page invoices: snap each page.
- Kanjo reads every line item: product, quantity, unit, price. The math is reconciled against the printed totals, so OCR mistakes are caught, not stored.
- On the Confirm screen, glance at the vendor, date and total. Fix anything by tapping the line. Then Save.
Tip · Vendors with quirky layouts (two quantity columns, running totals) are handled — line items are the source of truth and totals are re-derived, so the stored invoice adds up even when the print doesn't.
After the scan
- Recent — the invoices you've scanned, newest first; tap one for the line-by-line detail.
- Bills due — scanned invoices you haven't paid yet, so Friday's check run writes itself.
- Every line item also updates your price history — that's where the price-change alerts come from.
What to scan
Everything that feeds the shop: broadline deliveries, produce, meat and seafood, dairy, dry goods, beverage invoices, and the cash-and-carry receipts from restaurant-supply runs. If it becomes food you sell, scan it — that's your COGS.
